Mardi Gras on the Mind
Come the beginning of February, every weekend until Fat Tuesday will consist of parties, parades, and grilling on the side of the road, all in celebration of our Louisiana culture and the coming of Lent. Hundreds of people from across the country will travel to our state to partake in the celebration we hold so near and dear to our hearts. Streets will be scattered with beads and stuffed animals and candy and cups. Kids will be on their parents’ shoulders shouting at the floats. Grown men and women will have their arms outstretched in the air, looking to grab any bead, any flower, any one thing being thrown from the floats that are making their way down the roads. Dance teams will shake their pom-poms in the air, looking to raise the level of excitement from the beginning of the parade to the end. Bands will march down the street blaring “Mardi Gras Mambo” from their instruments.
Who doesn’t just love Mardi Gras?
Here at Betty White Jewelers, we have Mardi Gras on the mind. The king cake, the face-painted party-goers, the costumed people, the parades! It’s just September—we still have five months to go—and we’re already too excited for the start of it. Parties have begun, Kings and Queens have been crowned; the only things left are gifts, and we’ve got ‘em!
Many people come into our store looking to buy gifts for their Krewe’s royalty, and just as many people don’t know where to start. Would the Queen like this? Does the King need this? What do they normally get? What haven’t they received? Oh, and don’t forget the goddesses, the maids, the dukes! Giving gifts to the Carnival royalty is tradition. It’s the same reason you would shower the Queen of England with gifts galore—to celebrate and honor her reign.
Anything fleur-de-lis is a great gift for any level of the Carnival royalty. We have adorable fleur-de-lis earrings, pendants and rings, a selection of charm bracelets and an even wider selection of charms, and Mardi Gras colored jewelry for the Queens, goddesses, and maids; or, come choose a picture frame or photo album to record the memories during this Mardi Gras season!
For the Kings and dukes, we have chug mugs, ice buckets, and trays—and many more options—all able to be engraved in order to personalize your gifts.
All in all, you don’t have to know someone in the Carnival royalty to come in our store and buy a gift. Shower yourself with Mardi Gras presents. Buy yourself a photo album to remember the late-night parades. Or buy some purple, green, or gold jewelry to strut during the season. Add onto your collection (or start a collection) of our Mardi Gras charms!
